In the first quarter of 2017, an American manufacturer Tesla Motors increased the number of its electric vehicles sales by 70% compared to the same period of the previous year. For the period from January to March the Company was releasing more than 25 thousand electric cars. The Model S sedan is the leader in sales (13,45 thousand), the Model X crossover is on second place (of 11.55 million). The company doesn't provide data on sales by region.

Earlier, the founder of Tesla Elon Musk announced his plans to sell about 50 thousand electric cars in the 1st half of 2017. Judging by the results of the 1st quarter, the plan is moving ahead steadily.

The Company's sales are growing faster than those of American automotive industry giants like Ford or General Motors. Since the beginning of the year, Tesla capitalization has increased by almost 30%, which allowed it to catch up in the market value Ford Motor Co.

In September 2017, production of a new budget Tesla Model 3 in the amount of 5,000 electric cars is expected. In 2018 the Company intends to provide a new crossover Tesla Model Y, which according to the forecasts may become a bestseller of the brand.
